I never claimed to know anything about any sport. If anything I've been pretty vocal about how I feel that sports in general are just fucking horrible from the ground up, and that sports fans are the most boring people conceivable.

This case of deathsploitation is different because NBC is undercutting a large portion of the olympic event's costs in exchange for being the sole place in the US you could get coverage of the event. Their money put that person's life at risk, and then they acted irresponsibly when tragedy happened. They weren't covering news, they pretty much created the story. To me that makes all the difference.

Uhhh, yeah, it's pretty obvious that you don't understand anything about hockey - pulling the goalie is a dangerous move but it can be highly effective - six men offensively on the ice means that there is one person that the other team can't account for. It sounds like a stupid and crazy strategy, but it works. It'd take a breakaway for the team-with-a-goalie to score, but that's still really difficult when you're essentially a man down. There's a reason why goals are often scored when one of dudes is in the penalty box.

As for NBC... doesn't affect me what with me being Canadian and all. Also, the networks kinda make money off of people dying, and various other misfortunes, all the time.

That's gotta suck for you, you can only just barely win if America pulls its goalie and takes a nap in the corner. That doesn't actually sound like that great of a game. But I guess that's why I'm not a sports fan or a fan of the Olympics in general.

There also seemed to be an above average number of people dying, or bringing themselves to the verge of dying than normal... Maybe its just that it was reported on more this year because NBC ran that footage of the guy dieing over and over again on a loop. (Because the Olympics are family friendly.) I'd actually look into the stats, but I can't be bothered. It kind of makes me ill to think about how much money NBC must of made on that guy dying.

I didn't even want to reference the Olympics in the comic, but I didn't know any other reason to bring up curling, which is the only sport that has ever been the least bit interesting to me. The Olympics are the only time I get to see that kind of thing thus the reference. when I drew it I thought the event was already over tbh...

Dude, we lost the World Juniors to US earlier, and the previous hockey game against the US in this Olympics. The game was 2-1 us until 60 seconds on the clock and America pulled their goalie and managed to tie the game so it went into overtime... where Canada barely pulled off a win.

Seriously, it was a good game.

Mostly, though, I meant that we beat the record for most golds won in the winter olympics.

As for the closing ceremonies... what can I say? Canada likes to make fun of itself.

Oh wow, canada won at hockey. Thats really impressive Nikki. You should be really proud of that, I know the competition is like super tough. I dunno, I know canada is really proud of that medal for some reason, but to me, thats like america winning gold in basketball, its really only a story if America doesn't win. ya know?

The only part of the olympics I watched were the closing ceremonies. That was basically a train wreck. Like if you had me right a joke in which I made up an event like this taking place in Canada, and I was making one of my lolcanadaislame jokes, I probably would have made something exactly like what I saw. I dunno if I woulda hung women from the rafters dressed as maple leaves as part of the set decorations though, that was pure class.
